I did some prewriting regarding "Ars Poetica #100: I Believe" by Elizabeth Alexander. As seen in the photo above I wrote out the poem by hand and added several annotations and thoughts that occurred as I did so. I discovered new things in the process.
Thesis practice:
Policy: Ars Poetic #100: I Believe should be recited to well-versed adults.
Definition: Ars Poetic #100: I Believe is a poem for an audience of well versed adults.
Comparison: Ars Poetic #100: I Believe when read without the asides is like reading Shakespeare to four-year olds: it doesn't make sense to the audience.
Evaluation: Ars Poetic #100: I Believe is good for well-versed audiences because the asides add to the message of exasperated poetry.
Casual: Ars Poetic #100: I Believe is an incoherent poem for the intended audience because it is read without the asides.
